27A- Reading Reflection
How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Scott Adams
1)What was the general theme or argument of the book?
- the general theme of this book was a memoir in Scott Adams where he talks about how he overcome taking care of himself so he go from losing to eventually winning big.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
- This book connects with ENT 3003 because it talks about motivating and not to give up when you fail. In the previous assignment about failure it connects with this book because the assignment had you talk about your failure, what you learned from it, and reflect on the experience. This made me realize that failure is okay and its actually necessary to succeed.
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
- Going off of the assignment on failures, it would be similar but I would add in their more motivation with the reflection of failure. I think it's important for everyone to understand that failure comes with success and should motivate you to do better.
4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
- I already have heard that failure comes with success. It was nice to be able to have a reminder with this because sometimes we forget. One thing he mentioned that I found fascinating was “ Wherever your most comfortable taking risks, that’s where you should apply for jobs “This quote went along with his story on how he finally led to his success. I find it to be very true because if you are comfortable with risk then you are definitely comfortable with having a job their and you will be able to succeed by taking risks.
Hi Jessi!
ReplyDeleteIt was perfect/ironic that you chose this book for the last reading reflection as we just had the assignment about failures. That was definitely a good thing as I thought it allowed you to reflect more about failures in general. This concept is very important with being entrepreneurs as inevitably something will go wrong as you are creating a whole new product.
Hi Jessi!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great how you made such a clear connection between the main idea of this book and the last assignment. I agree that failure can be a good thing and can definitely create motivation to succeed. Sometimes people do need to be reminded that failure isn't always the end of the world. I think the quote you included is interesting and a good piece of advice.
